1 Samuel 10:6-9 New Living Translation
6 At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person….
9 As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day.
Acts 1:8 The Message
7-8 …. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”
You know, I sleep in increments for a few hours. I don’t know why that is, but some days are like that. In one sense, I like to think of myself as “Einstein,” or “Donald Trump.”
(Well, who would you use as examples, Joe Biden or Kamala?)
Nevertheless, I know the “Trumpster,” will only get a few hours’ sleep at night like me, yet this guy doesn’t seem to take naps?
My whole day is filled with “Naps,” else I couldn’t carry on.
Anyway, last night I was up from about Five Am to about Nine. Then, I sensed some bad news concerning an individual, took a nap and then was awakened at eleven and remembered a Walmart order was coming at Noon. Next, I had a package that I had to wait for which finally came. So around Two, I took a 2nd nap before I had to run out before Seven PM to get to the Discount Vision store. I awoke at four, sit, showered and shaved and left for the store.
When I got back at about eight, I watched some Fox shows, but felt like calling it a night at maybe 11:45 PM?
So, I wake up at Two Twenty AM, as if I have been sleeping for hours. I make breakfast, see a brand-new talent on the Christian music scene and was quite pleased at the performance.
Next, I wanted to watch something spiritually uplifting so I happened to see and turned on the Brooklyn Tabernacle service last Sunday.
If you have never heard of these people in the choir and worship, you must listen to them. As I recall the Music department used to be headed by the Pastor’s wife who had or has no “Music Learning,” other than what the Holy Spirit had taught her, yet their music has been world recognized for decades. Nonetheless, as I listened to these individuals this morning, it was as if I was watching professional musicians that you might see in a much more glitzier and glamorous setting. The unity among them was just incredible and that is when you just sense the “Holy Spirit.”
You just know that what is coming out of them is the love of God having been deposited in their hearts.
But the “Kicker,” to me, (I haven’t used that expression in years, not even sure that I know what it means?)…
From “Google:”
AI Overview
The expression "the kicker" originates from the literal meaning of "kicker" which is someone who kicks, and has evolved in slang to refer to a surprising or unexpected twist in a story, often used at the end to reveal the most impactful detail; essentially, the "kick" being the surprising element that changes the narrative.
Key points about the origin:
In sports like football, a "kicker" is the player responsible for kicking the ball, like for field goals or kickoffs, so the term originally had a direct physical meaning.
Over time, "kicker" took on a figurative meaning in everyday language, signifying a surprising or hidden element that changes the understanding of a situation.
"They told me the job was great, but here's the kicker - it requires me to work nights and weekends."
….but the “Kicker,” to me is that when you look at these amazing singers, what you are looking at is a “Bookkeeper, a guy who sells shoes at a chain Foot Store, a clerk from Whole Foods Market in Manhattan, a professional Window Washer, or perhaps, a clerk from a Duane Reade Drug Store. These are just common everyday people who had made a decision to “sing for the glory of God,” under a very anointed individual.
These people, some of them, have even led criminal street type of lives.
Once I heard the very Pastor of this same church tell a story concerning a “Mega Church,” who had invited a very professional singer or Psalmist, to do a performance for that weekend service.
Well, I forgot what happened, but the performance had just made the Congregation a little tense or uptight. I mean, it just wasn’t “flowing,” in the Holy Spirit, but there was more of “a fleshly tense,” among the people.
Anyway, so Pastor Cymbala told how the pastor of the church called up one of the few “Saints,” who had been with the church for years. Or perhaps, it was just a young brand new “singer,” who had been especially “anointed,” by God for the “body of Christ.”
(I heard the story like thirty years ago, so forgive me if my facts are a little off.)
Nonetheless, he told how that this little gal had just walked up to the piano, sang one of the old classics and the “Presence of God,” had just filled the church.
I think that he stated that there was “hardly a dry eye in the place” because this little gal had moved them all so emotionally.
Well, that was how I felt tonight when these common every day individuals had gotten together and just put on a great Christmas Service.
It was as if each one of them was equally “anointed and appointed,” to sing for the “glory,” of God.
Well, then they had an anointed speaker and so what could I do, but to obey the Lord and to post a link to the service before I take another “Nap?”
"Oh, also, I never realized how many Christmas songs speak about "angels," I was cooking at the time, but it seemed every song I would hear had a reference to angels?"
Plus, the speaker had a great insight concerning Solomon, in "The Song of Songs," scriptures.
Just mentioning, as I have never noticed either before.
